It is of invaluable assistance when parents make it a priority to build strong relationships with teachers. Co-operation with teachers includes laying Godly foundations in the home, following through with homework, signing and returning slips, encouraging punctuality, ensuring that correct uniforms are worn and sending written excuses for tardiness or absence. This is an area in which the school seeks to train and disciple the children. |
| |
|
| 2. |
Homework is an integral part of the education, and parents are asked to support their children in this regard, by showing an interest and offering assistance when needed. |
| |
|
| |
Parents are required to fetch their children promptly after school and after school events. We undertake to look after your children 15 minutes after the scheduled finishing time. Children not collected after school will go to the aftercare and the scheduled fees will be the parent’s responsibility. |

It is required that all parents of TCS, support the school in its Biblical approach to discipline. |
| |
|
|
Sport and educational activities: |
| |
|
| 1. |
Children will be expected to participate in at least one cultural and one sport extra-mural each term. They may be exempted if proof is given that they participate in such activities outside of TCS at other clubs, clinics, etc. |
| |
|
|
Communication: |
| |
|
| 1. |
Should a discrepancy arise between pupils and school personnel, parents are asked to reserve judgment until they have contacted the staff member concerned and heard all sides of the matter. Parents are encouraged to resolve conflicts in a mature, gracious and Biblical manner. (Matthew 18:15-17). Honest and sensitive communication between parents and staff is encouraged. |

Finances: |

|
| 1. |
An application fee of R
450.00 is payable on submission of application
of new pupils for enrolment, for the 2010 academic year. This fee includes the testing fee for evaluation.
|
| |
|
| 2. |
A non-refundable registration fee of R 1900.00 per child is payable once the child has been accepted at the school, in order to secure the child’s place (new pupils). Parents who are not South African citizens (or who cannot show proof of permanent residence in South Africa) are required to pay a refundable deposit of R 3000.00 per child as well as the registration fee. The deposit will be refunded when the child leaves the school, provided all amounts due have been settled, or it will be used to cover the outstanding amounts due. |
| |
|
| 3. |
A re-enrolment fee of R400 is payable, together with November fees, for current pupils. This payment will be deducted from school fees due for March 2011. This fee will become non-refundable should your child not return to school at the start of the first term 2011,
without sufficient notice. December is not
regarded as a notice month. Notice must be given
by 01 November 2010 should your child not be
returning for 2011. |
| |
|
| 4. |
There is also a quarterly property levy of R150.00, excluding annual increase charged per child. |
| |
|
| 5. |
For the effective administration of finances,
prompt payment of school fees is essential. Fees are payable, in advance each month, and should be paid by the
first day of each month. If, for any reason, the parent is unable to comply with this requirement, the school should be notified immediately, and preferably in advance. |
| |
|
| 6. |
Any outstanding school fees or other monies (e.g. for books, outings) will be charged 2% interest on the following month’s account and accumulate monthly. |
| |
|
| 7. |
The school strongly advises the payment of fees via pre-set electronic transfers or debit orders to ensure prompt payment and to reduce administration. Please ensure that the child’s name
and surname is used as the beneficiary reference on payments. |
| |
|
| 8. |
Any cash payments in excess of R 100.00 made into the school’s account or directly to the school office will be charged a cash deposit fee to cover the fees charged to the school by the bank for cash deposits. This fee will be calculated using the formula charged by the bank at any given period during the year. This does not apply to fundraising. |
| |
|
| 9. |
The school does not accept responsibility for any payments sent to the school with children unless a receipt is issued. No receipts are issued for cheques. |
| |
|
| 10. |
The school fees for the year are payable over 12 months unless alternative arrangements have been made and agreed upon by both parties (parents and TCS). This is done to reduce end-of-year administration and to provide parents with some financial relief in December. If any fees remain outstanding on 30 November of the current year, the school reserves the right to cancel the child’s enrolment for the following year. |
| |
|
| 11. |
If arrears exceed 30 days the child may be placed on probation and not be allowed to return to school until full payment has been made. |
| |
|
| 12. |
If a parent fails to pay any monthly amount due to the school on or before due date the full amount for that year will immediately become due and payable. |
| |
|
| 13. |
If an account is handed over to the school's attorneys for collection the parent will be invoiced an additional R50.00 administration fee for this process and shall be liable for the legal costs so incurred in the collection process on the scale as between Attorney and Client, including collection commission and tracing fees, until finalisation of the matter. The school does, however, maintain the right to waive suspension and/or legal action, at the discretion of the Board of Directors and based on extenuating circumstances. |
| |
|
| 14. |
Provided that there is full compliance with these terms and conditions, certain discounts are available to families in order to encourage our mission of “affordable Christian education”. These include discounts to children of staff, families with three or more children in the school, and children of parents in full-time Christian ministry (e.g. pastors and missionaries). Parents who pay the full year’s fees in advance also qualify for a discount. Should you wish to be considered for any of these discounts, please contract the school office for an application form. |
| |
|
| 15. |
Should a parent wish to remove the child from the school,
one full month’s notice is required in writing. Should the child be removed without such notice, the parent will be responsible for the current month’s fees as well as an additional month’s fees. No school records will be forwarded to the new school unless all outstanding accounts have been finalised.
December is not regarded as a notice month. If a child is not returning the following year, notice must be given by 01 November of the current academic year. |
| |
|
| 16. |
By 01 November, parents will be required to notify the school in writing of their decision to re-enrol their children for the coming year. Should parents notify the school after this of their intention to remove the child from the school, they will remain liable for the first month’s school fees of the next year. This is necessary because at this time, all the planning (such as finalising enrolment numbers, ordering of books, desks, uniforms) takes place in preparation for the next year and calculations are based on projected numbers of learners. Once again, no school records will be forwarded to the new school unless all outstanding accounts have been finalised.
